This Privacy Policy describes how Relic ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and website (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Information we collect
1. Information you provide directly
When you sign up to the waitlist, we collect:
- Your email address, used only to notify you about Relic's launch and updates
When you use the app, you may provide:
- Photos of game cartridges, discs, or cases taken within the app for identification purposes
- Games you choose to add to your collection
2. Information automatically collected
- Device information: platform (iOS), operating system version, and app version
- Usage data: how you interact with the app, to help us improve the experience
- Error and performance data: technical information about crashes and errors
3. Information stored locally on your device
The following data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers:
- Your game collection
- Scan history
- App preferences and settings
How we use your information
- To send you waitlist and launch updates (email only)
- To identify games and retrieve current market pricing when you scan
- To maintain and sync your game collection
- To diagnose bugs and improve app performance
- To respond to your support requests
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
Third-party services
Relic uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:
PriceCharting
- Purpose: Retro game pricing data
- Data shared: Game title and platform queries to retrieve current market prices
- Privacy policy: pricecharting.com
Resend
- Purpose: Transactional email delivery (e.g. waitlist confirmation)
- Data shared: Your email address, processed solely for delivery
- Privacy policy: resend.com/privacy
Data retention
- Waitlist data: We retain your email address until you ask us to remove it, or 12 months after the waitlist closes without a launch.
- App data: Retained for as long as you have the app installed. You can request deletion at any time.
- Local data: Stored on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data.
Data security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission and follow industry-standard security practices. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
- Restriction: Request that we limit how we use your data
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing

Children's privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of Relic after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
